Grímsvötn : special print edition

Iain will be showing a series of seascapes and sky studies with the John Muir Trust in Pitlochry in the Autumn. The exhibition is called vesper and will be at The Wild Space, the JMT’s new permanent gallery space from October 10th – December 8th 2014.

To mark the exhibition, we have produced an affordable print edition of Grímsvötn, a previously unseen seascape. The piece was made at first light in Durness, Sutherland in May 2011. A surreal silver-grey dawn breaks as the ash plume from the Icelandic volcano eruption drifts over to mainland Scotland.

Grímsvötn is a 12” x 16” Fuji Crystal Archive print, in an edition of 100. Each print is signed and numbered. Prints will be on sale during the exhibition at The Wild Space with a percentage of proceeds going to the John Muir Trust.

A limited number of prints from the edition are also available for direct early purchase now, at a special pre-sale price of £65 (incl UK/Europe p&p*) to help fund the exhibition. The first twenty prints purchased will be sent out with a small (6" x 4") ‘sketchbook’ sky or seascape print free of charge.

If you would like a print at this special discounted rate, simply email info@isphotographs.co.uk to arrange your purchase. Prints will be sent out the week before the exhibition opens.

 John Muir 1838-1914
The John Muir Trust is a UK conservation charity dedicated to protecting wild places. The Trust owns and care for some of the UK's finest wild landscapes including Ben Nevis, Schiehallion, Sandwood Bay, Quinag in Assynt, part of the Cuillin on Skye and 3,000 acres on the remote Knoydart peninsula.

Muir may be a hugely influential figure in the conservation and preservation movements in his adoptive home of America, but is only recently starting to gain long overdue recognition here in the UK. 2014, such an important year in Scotland’s calendar, has also marked the centenary celebrations of Muir’s life, with events taking place all over Scotland, including the official opening of the 134 mile John Muir Way.
